Special English word list: Common prefixes

How to use this word list: (1) Read the list silently at first and understand the meaning of the words; and (2) To practice your pronunciation, read the words and their definitions, or the words only, at your full speaking volume.

Parts of speech: n. (noun) - a name word; (verb) - an action word; ad. (adjective/adverb) - a describing word; prep. (preposition) - a word used to show a relation; pro. (pronoun) - a word used in place of a noun; conj. (conjunction) - a joining word

Common prefixes
  1. dis- - not (dishonest, disobey)
  2. pro- - for, supporting (pro-labor, pro-government)
  3. re- - to do again (reorganize, reunite)
  4. self- - used to show that the person or group acting is the one affected by the action, or to show that the action is done only by its own effort or power (self-declared, self-appointed)
  5. un- - not (unusual, unhappy)
